Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis on Monday responded to Democrats’ efforts to block President Donald Trump’s agenda by relying on leftist activist judges to gum up the works by asserting that such efforts would ultimately fail.
On Saturday, after 19 Democratic attorneys general asked him to act, U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer ordered that efforts by DOGE to examine the Department of the Treasury’s payment systems be blocked.
“I disagree with it 100 percent; I think it’s crazy. We have to solve the efficiency problem; we have to solve the fraud, waste, abuse,” Trump told Fox News.
“A corrupt judge protecting corruption. He needs to be impeached NOW!” Elon Musk, head of DOGE, wrote on X.
The leftist media attacked Trump: “Not only has the Trump administration seized for itself extraconstitutional powers, but yesterday, it raised the specter that, should the courts apply the text of the Constitution and negate its plans, it will simply ignore them,” The Atlantic carped.
The New York Times railed that Trump had broken the law, saying, “Mr. Trump has openly violated numerous statutes, like limits on summarily firing officials and effectively dismantling U.S.A.I.D. and folding it into the State Department. … the escalating pace of courtroom clashes has raised the question of what would happen if Mr. Trump simply started ignoring decisions he did not like, rather than appealing them. The result would be a constitutional crisis.”
