The list of U.S. researchers who went missing or died over the past few years has caught President Trump’s attention and led to speculation about a potential link with UFOs, but a former FBI special agent offers a less sensational theory: There is no connection.
“I’m not buying the conspiracy,” Jennifer Coffindaffer, NewsNation law and justice contributor, told “NewsNation Prime” on Saturday.
Nearly a dozen researchers or people with links to aerospace or defense programs have disappeared or died in circumstances that some observers have deemed suspicious.
But Coffindaffer, a law enforcement veteran of nearly 30 years, said she’s taken a “pragmatic and practical look” at each case and doesn’t see any connection.
She said some of the individuals were killed in well-documented homicides, while others walked off with guns, amid “serious issues going on in their lives,” as if they did not wish to return.
“They have a set of circumstances that makes sense with each one,” Coffindaffer said, adding there is “nothing combined together that would show some sort of government plot to take out all these scientists.”
