A former teach and cheer coach was indicted for allegedly having sex with a student.
According to 1819 News, citing court documents, 32-year-old Makaela Caldwell Hodgins of Woodland, Alabama, a former teacher at Randolph County High School in Wedowee, Alabama, was indicted by a grand jury on a charge of sexual intercourse with a student.
Hodgins was introduced as the cheer coach at Randolph County High School in a Facebook post published by the school in 2022, which states that Hodgins grew up in the area and was the Woodland High School cheerleading squad captain. She was also a cheerleader at the University of West Alabama, which is where she earned her Master of Education.
The post states that Hodgins “has been involved in many aspects of coaching cheer for the past ten years through judging try-outs, conducting cheer camps, and choreographing routines.”
According to The New York Post,she is “married to her college sweetheart,” with the couple raising “two beautiful children.”
The documents indicate that the student involved was under the age of 19, but an exact age was not specified, according to the outlet.
