Sen. Dave McCormick: Vance, Oz Medicaid Crackdown Is Warranted

Sen. Dave McCormick, R-Pa., told Newsmax on Tuesday that a sprawling Medicaid billing scheme tied to Bhutanese-American operators in Ohio is the predictable result of years of weak federal oversight and rapid program expansion, and he pledged to back Vice President JD Vance’s anti-fraud task force as it widens its review.

Appearing on “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” McCormick reacted to a Daily Wire investigation that found people sharing the Bhutanese surname Adhikari have collectively been paid more than $350 million by the government for operating home health and adult daycare businesses in Ohio.

The series, led by reporter Luke Rosiak, is the latest installment in a multipart probe of suspect home-care billings.

McCormick called the figure a “bombshell, but it’s not a surprise.”

He argued that “Democrats have expanded these programs dramatically” and that Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are “growing faster than any other entitlement program,” carrying what he described as “hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud.”

He said the spending has become “a slush fund for many of the Democrats’ priorities” and added: “We’ve got to rein it in.”

The money, McCormick contended, “has largely gone to groups or individuals that have been supportive of the Democratic agenda,” and Democrats “resist because it benefits them.” He said, “in all states, you’ve seen double-digit growth in Medicaid.”

He pointed to the Working Families Tax Cut Act, signed by President Donald Trump on July 4, 2025, as a starting point.
