Trump ‘Disappointed’ With Kurds Over Iran War

President Donald Trump on Monday expressed disappointment with the Kurds amid the ongoing Iran war, asserting that their failure to cooperate and arm the Iranian people had prevented mass uprisings.

The Iranians, Trump said, “want to go out on the streets.”

“They have no weapons. They have no guns. We thought the Kurds were going to give [them] weapons, but the Kurds disappointed us,” he added. “The Kurds take, take, take… I’m very disappointed in the Kurds.”

Early in the Iran war, media reports on a possible Kurdish invasion of Iran from Iraqi Kurdistan circulated globally, but no such action ever took place. Trump, in April, said that the U.S. had sent weapons to the Iranian people that the Kurds were supposed to distribute, but he speculated that the Kurds just kept them instead.

“We sent guns to the protesters, a lot of them. We went to the Kurds. And I think the Kurds kept them,” he said at the time.
